Practicing a Drama with Elevate

While I am home in Baton Rouge I am participating in an internship at my church. Elevate, as it is called, is a 9 month internship that is a mix between discipleship, theological training and practical ministry experience.

The full time Elevate group is heading to Africa in April to help Issac Williams launch the Church part of the Nkobe CarePoint. In the pictures, we are practicing a drama that they'll be able to use in Mozambique.

Natalie is a bus, Barton is on the floor after being hit by the bus, I am a passanger and Kaycee is an onlooker...you might notice she goes from laughing to extreme concern...must be a good actress.

Just thought I'd update you as to what I've been doing lately. Please pray as I wait upon the Lord for finances to go back to Africa...I've talked with some Pastors already and am in the process of making plans to meet with many more, pray that I convey clearly the work that God has called me to in Southern Africa.

Hope you guys are living in hopeful expectancy of what the Lord is going to do!!!

Macia

The following are some notes I made while interviewing a girl from Zakhele Carepoint. I figured I'd share it so all of you could see that the children we (Children's Cup) help in Africa are real indviduals. These kids go through some unimaginably tough things but also similar struggles (and very difficult struggles) that kids in America go through. Macia's extended family is slightly better off than the homes where most of our CarePoint kids come from but just from talking with her I could tell that she carried a lot of pain around inside her....here are the notes:

Macia Ndlangamandla

Double orphan Mom died – 2003 Dad died- 2001
9 years old
Grade 3 @ St. Teresa’s School
Lives past Two Sticks in Zakhele area with 2 Aunts, 2 Uncles & Grandmother (Gogo in Siswati)

Favorite color – red
Favorite food – Cake
Favorite subject in School – Maths

She has not been to camp with us, her uncle won’t let her come…she wants to come

- Macia has lots of half brothers and sisters she doesn’t know well…she is the only one from her mother. Her father had lots of children

Dreams – Wants to be a police woman
Likes – songs, dancing, playing with dolls

Granny is the most important person in her life, she is nice, caring, understanding

Aunts & Uncles give her problems

*Doesn’t have friends at school – does not want to get hurt (been burned)

Perfect Day – play freely with other children all day long

Worst chore – cleaning the house, Aunt gives her problems…her cousins get preferential treatment…Cinderella type situation

Does not like school but seems really smart

She wishes we could provide playground equipment at the CarePoint

- She's the girl to the left, only half of her face is in the picture...sorry this is the only picture I could find on my laptop
