Youth Programs

This past Saturday we had our second youth group at the CarePoints. This year we are trying to establish two youth groups that meet every other week at two of the CarePoints. It was a lot of fun hanging out with the youth. The thing that struck me was how easy it was to keep these kids engaged. The other thing that hit me was just how important showing up is. I think if we can get our hearts before God and consistently show up that lives will be changed.

I am tasked with trying to get a youth program started here in Swaziland. I am still seeking God about what exactly that looks like but so far here is the plan.

1-We hope to eventually establish a youth group at all the CarePoints.
2-We'd like to start a sports program that teaches sports and biblical values.
3-We want to establish a regular skills training program that will help equip the youth.
4-We want to have a part time internship in 2008 for Africans.

Pray for God's wisdom and pray that I hear God on this...

Yeah, it really is shocking how "little" things like showing up (physically as well as mentally/emotionally/spiritually)can make a big impact.
A lot of people that come into the library here, do so because they don't have any other place to go (homeless, parents are addicts of somekind or can't afford babysitters, etc.) But what amazes me is how people react when I simply remember their NAME or look them in the eye.
I was talking to one of the kids today and he said he was really glad I knew his name because most people just look at him and his brother and say, "oh look at those trouble-makers". but it really is true...there aren't any "little" things...even the smallest things have potential to leave a big impression.

Praise the Lord! It' great, all the new excitements, unknowns, and fears that can come when starting youth ministry, well any ministry God is calling us too!
I love that it as it puts us into unknown and untreaded territory that we see clearly either I can do it in my own power or surrender my life and the lives of others over to the Lord Almighty...and how God in all His glory works in and through us over and above anything we could ever do!
I've just started tonight a new high school girl Bible study. I always get excited for the potential of where God is going to lead us in relationships with one another and what new aspects of His eternal truth and character He will be revealing to us in a personal way. I don't know why but I'm always taken back by the spiritual attack that always come.
I'll be praying for God to continually and clearly guide you giving you divine wisdom and that God will lead you to the right people to not only minister to but those God is calling to become leaders and warriors of the One we serve. Also for the spiritual attack that will come...that you may have discerning eyes and ears that you will see and hear lies as lies and that you may cling and live on Truth.

Hey Patrick! First I want to say "Good-Bye" You had to rush out of the airport parking lot so quickly that we didn't get to say it so...I just said it! It was awesome spending time with you and getting to help you with the the youth event on Sat! I'd say it was a huge success! Their voices were beautiful when they sang, weren't they? I also loved how God used Jeanna's testimony and all those children raised their hands to say that they wanted to know God like she knew God! Keep stirring their hearts up! God is doing great things through you and your obedience! :) Beth Young (Celebration Team)

Showing up and building relationship is what this whole "Church thing" is about. Thank God someone built a relationship with me so that I could have the relationship with Christ that I have now!! I think that those ideas about the youth plan sounds awesome!! It's simple! Do stuff that kids like to do= you hang out with them= they may see the power of Jesus = you may get to share Christ with them= FUN Fun Fun!!! Congrats Pat! Keep up the good work!
